In March of 2018, our world stopped. Our family received a diagnosis we will never forget: Stage 3C metastatic ovarian cancer. It wasn’t just a medical term written in a chart — it was our wife, our mother, and the heart of our family.

The hospital felt heavy in those early days. Surgery came quickly, and the road ahead was uncertain. Doctors and nurses explained that one thing would be critical to recovery: she needed to get up and walk. In an empty hospital room we found a walker — cold, clinical metal that symbolized everything she suddenly couldn’t do on her own. But when we looked at her, we didn’t see a patient. We saw a fighter.

That’s when the words came out: “Team Whiskey® is getting you up.” The name appeared out of nowhere, but it sparked something powerful. In a place where laughter had been hard to find, she laughed — and that moment changed the entire atmosphere of the room.

From then on, every step became a battle and every inch forward became a victory. “Team Whiskey®” became our rallying cry — not about the drink, but about the spirit behind it: resilience, strength, and the determination to endure when the odds say otherwise.

Three weeks later, she walked out of the hospital on her own two feet — no walker and no assistance. It was one of the proudest and happiest moments of our lives. That moment became the foundation for everything that followed. Today, the Team Whiskey Cancer Foundation carries that same spirit forward, supporting families facing cancer with the encouragement, resilience, and community that helped our family through the hardest moments.

Because in this fight, no one stands alone.
